General Questions

It is a model of learning where children/student learn from home, without having to go to school. The children receive all schooling services online. The homework, assignments and exams are conveyed and submitted online, and the is a close personal relationship between the teacher and students.

We have an interactive portal, where your children are able to attend classes and are taught by our teachers. They are comprehensive and fully fledged class with high teacher-student interaction than the traditional schools. Students are taught to cover the whole syllabus by the time they sit for final exams.

Please go to our registration page on the website here

Parents are able to communicate to the teacher through the portal and every parent will direct contacts of the class teacher.

We have a global spectrum in regard to the students who are with us. Thus children get to interact not just locally but also globally with their peers. As well our wide panel of teachers creates a wide pool of professionals with different backgrounds and your child gets to experience a different teacher with different capabilities and different teaching techniques.

We have an elaborate Children Protection and Privacy Policy so no need to worry about this. Click here to read more.

We welcome parents to visit our offices. If that's not possible, we can arrange for virtual meetings. Please get in touch with us here.

Learning & Curriculum Questions

Apart from The British International Curriculum, we also offer The Kenyan Curriculum 8-4-4 on both full-time as well as part time basis. This is available from Junior secondary (Grade 7) and above. Sunrise Virtual School in partnership with The Ministry of Education- Adult & Continuing Education(ACE) is offering this on the above terms.

We are in the process of on-boarding other global curricula as per the demand such as American curriculum, ACE, Indian, IB, French and others. Please contact the office for more information on this.

We ignite a spark of curiosity in our learners and encourage them to fan that into a lifelong passion for learning! They also gain the essential skills they need for success at the universities and other institutions of higher learning as well as in their future careers

We enroll learners from Form 1 to form 4 under 8-4-4. We take them through comprehensive 8-4-4 curriculum as guided by Ministry of Education and ensure that by the time they sit for exams they have covered the syllabus as is required. Students get full learning experience from highly qualified and widely experienced teachers registered by Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

Yes. Our teachers are fully equipped to teach, and follow to ensure children understand the lessons and concepts and where necessary take extra time with students, especially the students of higher classes. The students are taught using the same syllabus that is used in schools since they will also sit the same national exams. It has been observed that children under homeschooling, given the fact that they learn in a more relaxed and stress-free environment, often do better that in performance the students in traditional schooling.

Please see our fee structure for more details.

The teacher will generate a list of learning materials which include books and stationery to buy locally or from online shops.

For the larger part, our teacher is able to simulate practical lessons virtually. When there is a need for physical labs especially in higher classes (Junior secondary and A-levels), we run physical lab sessions.

Our teaching team is hired through a competitive recruitment process. We endeavor to only engage the best. Our minimum requirement for our teachers is a Bachelor of Education degree or an equivalent of the same, 5 years of experience in teaching Cambridge Curriculum or Kenyan System (for 8-4-4 teachers) and registration with relevant government body is mandatory. We also ensure to engage teachers with a good command of The English language.

To make sure our students have fun and interact with their peers, we plan for physical meet-ups twice a semester where parents, students, teachers and management come together. As well as have mini meet-ups per class together with their teachers both educational and fun spaces so as to have a holistic student.

Students will be able to join TVET colleges or Universities of their choice. We endeavor to guide our learners on career progression options available to them through frequent career coaching offered by professional and reputable consultants.

We offer classes through two modules. Daytime (Full-time Classes), and evening classes (Part time).

Details:

  • Day time program targets junior high school and goes from 8.00am - 3.30pm Monday to Friday just like traditional schooling.

  • Evening module – covers the students that are not able to attend classes during the day for one reason or another and are only available during the evenings.

  • Classes start at 8.00am - 3.30pm Monday to Friday, and Saturday 8.00am -12.00pm

Assessment & Exam Questions

The teacher gives frequent homework to the students, which is done and submitted through the portal.

We help arrange for registered and certified examination centers where our students sit for final exams. The examination center are usually arranged to the convenience of the learner and in consultation with the parent.

Yes, we do have assessment done in written form to gauge whether the child is at par with the current class work. Further assessments are done by teachers at class in the first few weeks and report is shared with the parent.

Parents are able to access report forms indicating their children performance after the exams, which also cites student behavior, attendance, achievements and teacher observation and recommendations frequently.

Examinations are part of the curriculum so as to gauge the level at which the child is. For this reason, we have our in-house examination taking part twice a semester after which we hold a clinic session with the subject teacher, parent and student to understand your child's needs and strengths. The examination is administered both virtually (via the student portal) in some instances, it becomes necessary to transmit hard copy exams (via email for print and scan). The virtual aspect is to get the student to enhance the computing skills while the physical aspect is to prepare your child for the final written examination at the final year.
